Advancing Diversity Workshop

The first "Advancing Women at Virginia Tech" workshop took place in January 2004 during the inaugural year of the NSF ADVANCE grant.  This workshop continued as a yearly event at the university, and was re-named "Advancing Diversity" in 2008 when AdvanceVT and the Office of Multiculutral Affairs joined as workshop co-sponsors.  Starting in 2017, coordination of the Advancing Diversity Workshop moved to the Office for Inclusion and Diversity.  Keynote speakers over the years have included Virginia Valian, Denice Denton, Damon Williams, Cathy Trower, Alma Clayton-Pedersen, Freeman Hrabowski III, Karan L. Watson, Bernadette Gray-Little, Terrell Strayhorn.
